Risk Limit
After funding, you can risk maximum 2% of your funding balance at a time in trades on 2-Step and 1-Step plans, or 1% on Instant Funded (Elite Direct & Pro Elite). It's a combined cap across all your open trades. During Step 1 or Step 2 evaluation there is no % cap.
After funding, you can risk maximum 2% (or 1% on Instant Funded) of your funding balance at a time in trades. It's a combined cap across every trade you have open at once — not a per-trade cap. Close a trade and its slot frees up.
- 2-Step accounts (Funded only): risk up to 2% of funding balance at a time
- 1-Step accounts (Funded only): risk up to 2% of funding balance at a time
- Instant Funded (Elite Direct & Pro Elite): risk up to 1% of funding balance at a time
- The cap adjusts automatically as your balance grows or shrinks
- Step 1 / Step 2 / one-step evaluation phases: no % cap on trade size
- Trades of at least 0.5% of the starting balance still count toward the 20-trade qualifier
Worked examples — one per challenge
Account balance: $2,500 → total open trades allowed: $2,500 × 2% = $50 One $50 trade OR five $10 trades both fill the cap During Step 1 or Step 2: no % cap
Account balance: $5,000 → total open trades allowed: $5,000 × 2% = $100 You can hold up to 5 open trades; e.g. 4 trades at $25 each = $100 (cap full) During Step 1 or Step 2: no % cap
Funded account balance: $3,000 → total open trades allowed: $3,000 × 2% = $60 One $60 trade, or three $20 trades, or six $10 trades all fill the cap During the one-step evaluation phase: no % cap
Funded account balance: $5,000 → total open trades allowed: $5,000 × 2% = $100 e.g. two trades at $40 + one at $20 = $100 (cap full) During the one-step evaluation phase: no % cap
Account balance: $3,000 → total open trades allowed: $3,000 × 1% = $30 One $30 trade OR three $10 trades both fill the cap Starts funded — the 1% cap applies from day one
Account balance: $5,000 → total open trades allowed: $5,000 × 1% = $50 One $50 trade, two $25 trades, or five $10 trades all fill the cap Starts funded — the 1% cap applies from day one
- Is the limit per trade or across all open trades?
Combined across all open trades. The total value of every trade you have open at once must stay within 2% of funding balance (2-Step / 1-Step) or 1% (Instant Funded).
- Does the limit apply during Step 1 or Step 2?
No. Evaluation phases have no % cap. Drawdown, daily loss and concurrent-trade limits still apply.
- Why is the limit higher on 2-Step / 1-Step Funded than on Instant Funded?
2-Step and 1-Step traders already proved discipline in evaluation, so funded risk is 2%. Instant Funded plans skip evaluation, so the limit stays at 1% — that lower cap IS the main risk filter.
- Why did the trade button lock?
The new trade would push your combined open-trade risk above the limit, or the max open-trades limit is reached, or a daily plan limit has been hit.
- Can I still place smaller trades?
Yes. Smaller trades are allowed, but trades below 0.5% of the starting balance do not count toward the 20 qualifying trades.
